Role: Product Designer

Overview

Mecha Pizza is an automated market that is unmanned during its operational hours. Mecha Pizza provides slices of pizza, full-size pizza pies, and more all customizable by users through the application available in the app stores. After the pandemic, the need for fast contactless stores started forming and became a necessity to many people who are often busy with work or attend college.

Context

The goal of this project was to design a mobile app for an automated pizza market from conception to execution for my product design portfolio. The primary goal was to create a provisional persona after analyzing user research and develop a mobile app that will illustrate what the automated pizza market sold and how it would be processed for users who ordered through the app.

Research

Competitor Analysis

Some of the first steps in my process was determining my objectives and researching competitors. This will aid me to learn strengths and opportunities for my own app and web design. The two competitors similar to Mecha Pizza that I did an analysis on are Pixevia and Garten.

User Persona

After researching a competitive analysis I created a provisional persona to help communicate the research attained for potential users for the design process.

Ideation

Concept and Strategy

With an app based on presenting what is being sold and what is available to purchase as well as other real time information, customers will be able to choose what kind of pizza they want to purchase and more. To make the experience seamless the app will feature the popular food choices and inform the user if the food is in stock for purchase. Real time information if the item is out of stock of when the item will be schedule for restocking.

User Flow

Communicating the concept architecture, I created a user flow process to illustrate the product frameworks.

Mid-Fi Wireframes

I put together the process of my user flow in mid fidelity wireframes to showcase what my research of my audience would find successful for user experience.

Based on the research findings, my main objectives were:

  • Providing a platform that allows users to browse easily.

  • Providing a smooth user checkout experience and providing relevant information about each product.

  • Providing a convenient way to browse what product are popular in the area.

Prototype

Hi-Fi Prototype

During this process I changed the mid-fi wireframes into a high fidelity prototype.  I utilized the UI design to make the prototype as user friendly as possible based on usability feedback. I am improving the user flow to make the user experience smoother and informative.
